Journey after IUD removal

Hi ladies!!!

My name is Megan and at the age of 25 have two beautiful children. A daughter who is 4 and a son who is 2. I started the pill when I became sexual active with my boyfriend at the age of 18. My boyfriend later turned into husband and well, you get what came quickly after. I always forgot to take the pill, so after my son I decided to try the IUD Mirena. Sounded like perfect birth control. The doctor inserted the Mirena in April of 2009. All went well. The insertion was painful but I had very little cramping and very little bleeding. My periods stopped and for a while had very little to worry about. I divorced from my husband that June. Then I started a new relationship and as that progressed everything was still fine with the IUD. Then about May of 2010 I started cramping and spotting after sex. I didn't know what was going on, first time we had ever experienced it. The next day cramping and spotting stopped, but only for a little while. This continued to happen two to three times a month. Then this month, January 2011, I felt the worst pain ever during sex, it felt like the IUD went through my uterus. I hurt for days, could hardly walk and had a burning pain in my lower abdomen. I knew I had to have the Mirena taken out. Today, January 7th 2011, I had the Mirena taken out. I have read every horror story on the Internet about the Mirena crash. I'm not looking forward to it, but I have experienced the mood swings and the anxiety. I am hoping it doesn't last long. I have not, however, read anything about anyone starting birth control pills after their Mirena removal. I was wondering if it might help to ease some of the side effects if I start on the pills. I start the pills on Sunday and will post my progress. I have gained about 15lbs while I had the Mirena. I am 5'6 and currently 146lbs. I haven't had any issues with acne. I have moderate mood swings which, luckily for my husband, last for about 3 days. I didn't really have a bad period with out the Mirena, lasted for 3 days with no cramping or mood swings. I hope this will help somebody and provide more information.

so what happened?

I just had my mirena removed today and don't know which birth control to try. I had bad cramps, mood swings, weight gain, and no sex drive with the mirena. Ideally I'd like a pill without those side effects. Have you had any luck finding a pill?
